In less than 24 hours, the electorate will be back in their box with the lid closed. Our new MPs should hopefully soon debate electoral voting changes. Some have promised a referendum on the 'alternative vote'. This is only one alternative. This forum and public debate should consider the merits/drawbacks of all possible voting methods. ie first past the post, single/multiple transferrable votes, proportional representation vs the merits of electing a defined Constituency MP. I would suggest a series local public debates to consider the alternatives and best advise our current MP. The discussion could be widened to consider the formation of a lower English Assembly, with a UK Parliament comprised of national assembly members pro rata and reform of the UK House of Lords (revising chamber) Don't let them lock the lid on us!
