Untill we bin the two-party system every other nation other than the US has already done our democracy is an utter sham.

The Labour Party has deserted us working-class folks and as a result we need PR more than ever before.

We certainly need electoral reform, but PR is overrated.

If we want real democracy, we need to get more people voting; preferably everybody.
I used to be in favour of compulsory voting, but decided that carrot was better than stick, so now I favour the idea of giving some sort of bonus to all those who can be bothered to vote.
I thought a small rebate off their council tax.

An Open Democracy piece that suggests the problem is far greater; a bit depressing, really.  It does show how important Democracy Club is, though.

smile Yes, I like the idea of a small rebate on council tax, but it would have to be small.  Preferably added to everyone's and removed when they vote.

I don't work for the Council, but I'd hate good people to lose their jobs because there isn't enough money to pay them.  There are a lot of smileteachers who work in Education support.  One colleague (way back) who supported Head Teachers in doing their jobs properly, as a mentor.  There were bullysmileng head teachers, who she was guiding into more productive staff management.
