We certainly need electoral reform, but PR is overrated.
If we want real democracy, we need to get more people voting; preferably everybody. I used to be in favour of compulsory voting, but decided that carrot was better than stick, so now I favour the idea of giving some sort of bonus to all those who can be bothered to vote. I thought a small rebate off their council tax.
Yes, I like the idea of a small rebate on council tax, but it would have to be small. Preferably added to everyone's and removed when they vote.
I don't work for the Council, but I'd hate good people to lose their jobs because there isn't enough money to pay them. There are a lot of teachers who work in Education support. One colleague (way back) who supported Head Teachers in doing their jobs properly, as a mentor. There were bullyng head teachers, who she was guiding into more productive staff management.
